The School of International Education(SIE) organized a series of cultural research and study activities for international teachers and students. In order to actively engage in“telling Chinese stories and spreading good Chinese culture and voices”and to enhance the understanding and recognition of Chinese culture by the teachers and students.
On December 2024, the International Exchange and Cooperation Office organized international teachers and students to visit the Medical Saint Temple, Wolonggang, Han Painting Museum and other historical places and sceneries in Nanyang City. This activities highlight the achievements of Chinese people and the rich ancestral heritage and ancient traditions and practices of the Henan people.
As the saying goes“History never Forgets”, In the Medical Saint Temple, by listening to the explanations by the tour guide and also visiting the exhibition, the international teachers and students were impressed by the deeds of the medical saint ZHANG Zhongjing who saved the world in ancient times with Chinese traditional medicines and with some unique charms of traditional Chinese medicine culture. The audience also visited the remarkable tomb of ZHANG Zhongjing, were fate which holds it that sick people who visit and touch the tomb can be healed.
In Wolonggang, international teachers and students were briefed about ZHU Geliang’s life and deeds, they visited the simple and elegant Zhuge Caolu, and also was taught about his noble sentiment of“Unless indifferent, there is no clear ambition, and no way to go far without tranquility”. They also walked into the Baguai Array and experienced the wonder and depth of ancient military wisdom. There was a wonderful and amazing“bowing and ploughing”singing and dancing performance which delighted everyone.
Also in the Han painting museum, the teachers and students felt astonished by watching the adorable and exquisite stone carvings in the Han Dynasty, with themes such as production labor, architectural art, historical stories, social life, astronomy and mythology.
