Nanyang Normal University

Nanyang Normal University is an ordinary undergraduate university in Henan Province. It was founded in 1951. In 2007, it passed the evaluation of undergraduate teaching of the Ministry of education. In 2011, it was approved as “serving the national special needs talent training project - Bachelor’s degree awarding unit to carry out the pilot training of master’s degree”. In 2016, it was approved to be a demonstration Applied Technology Undergraduate University in Henan Province. In 2017, it was upgraded to be a master’s degree awarding unit. In 2020, it was identified by Henan Provincial Department of Education as a key construction university with characteristic backbone disciplines in Henan Province.

The university is located located in Nanyang City, a famous historical and cultural city. Nanyang has a long history and splendid culture. It is the center of the culture of Chu and Han and the Three Kingdoms. It is also the hometown of Zhang Heng, a scientific saint, and Zhang Zhongjing, a medical saint. The campus is located in Wolonggang, Nanyang, close to the world-renowned Wuhou Memorial Temple, commanding a broad view of Dushan Mountain to the north and the Baihe River-scape to the south.

The university, covering a total area of 1,460,000 square metres, with a building area of 852,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 440 million yuan, with 2.38 million printed books in Chinese and foreign languages and 1.6 million electronic books. The total number of full-time students is over 27500. There are more than 1600 faculty members, including 500 with senior professional titles, nearly 400 with doctor’s degree, and more than 1230 full-time teachers.

Presently, the university has twenty-four schools covering science, engineering, humanities, law, history, philosophy, economics, management, education and art. As the university is dedicated to cultivating application-oriented, interdisciplinary and innovative talents with global vision and international competitiveness, which has been enshrined in its educational goals and development strategies, the past few years have seen the university’s cooperation with several prestigious universities both home and abroad. The university has cooperated with Jeonju University and Kyonggi University in South Korea, University of South Australia, Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep in Thailand, and famous universities in the United States, Sweden, Finland to carry out cooperation in various forms and fields, such as joint training of undergraduate and postgraduate students, exchange of students, visiting teachers for further study, scientific research, etc. We have also established good cooperative relations with Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhengzhou University, central China Normal University, Southwest University, China science investment group, China Science Boyang Co., Ltd., Henan Tianguan enterprise group, etc.

The university is committed to combine research on important scientific subjects with the cultivating of students with practical skills and innovative spirit as demanded by the country’s socialist modernization. It strives not only for improvements in teaching and research work, but also for the promotion of integral skills of the individuals.
