(By Wang Guangqi, photo by Cui Yawen) On the afternoon of October 15, the 2nd knowledge contest on Chinese studies for international students in Nanyang Normal University is held in the conference room on the third floor of the Science and Technology Building, for the purpose of interpreting the connotation of Chinese traditional culture, showcasing the charm of Chinese language and culture, creating a good learning atmosphere, and for further motivating the international students to learn Chinese culture. Heads and experts from College of Music, Department of Publicity, and College of Chinese Language and Literature are invited to serve as judges. All staff from the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, all international students and some Chinese students participate in the contest. The event is hosted by the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation (School of International Education).

Cao Luman, director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation (School of International Education), gives the opening speech. She says that this knowledge contest is one of the measures taken by the University to study and implement President Xi Jinping’s important remarks on education, and to push forward the high-quality education opening up. She hopes that through this event, international students can deepen their understanding of Chinese traditional culture, build a "bridge of friendship" between China and their home countries, and play a positive role in promoting people to people exchange.

After pre-contest matches, 11 teams participate in this contest. The contest consists of preliminary and final round. All contestants are divided into two groups, A and B, in the preliminary round, and contest in each group includes the mandatory questions - "One Voice Ahead" and race against the clock-"Step by Step". After intense competition, the three teams with the best results in each group enter the final round. The climax of the contest comes at the final stage. After mandatory questions - "One Voice Ahead" and the additional questions - "Surprise Winner", A1 team consisting of Hao Shuai, Ha Sang and A Siwei win the first prize, A3 team consisting of Liu Zheyang, Ai Fei and Mei Lisha and B6 team consisting of Li Xin win the second prize. B4 team led by A Zhade, A2 team led by Zhu Rongli, and B3 team led by An Da win the third prize respectively.

Finally, honorary certificates are awarded to the winning international students by the judges and teachers. (Edited by Yu Zhengdao)
