(By Wang Guangqi, photo by Cao Yipeng) On the afternoon of October 4, Department of International Exchange and Cooperation (School of International Education) hold the first class for international students in the smart classroom 238 of the Science and Technology Building. Police chief Liang Yulong and police officer Liu Qi, of Wuhou Police Station of Wolong District Public Security Bureau, and Dr. Gao Limin, of Nanyang Normal University Hospital are invited to give keynote speeches. Department of International Exchange and Cooperation staff and all the international students of the university participate in the event. The event is hosted by Cao Luman, director of Department of International Exchange and Cooperation.

In the welcome speech, Cao Luman says that the university always cares about the physical and mental health and safety of international students as mothers do by citing an ancient Chinese poem "a mother will always care about her child who travels thousands of miles away from home". By quoting the "Do as Romans do" and "Take things as they come", she urges that the international students studying in China should abide by Chinese laws, China's epidemic prevention and control policies and the rules and regulations of the university, get used to university life, study hard, and strive to become international talents who obtain a thorough knowledge of China and their home countries as soon as possible.

Police chief Liang Yulong gives a speech on the laws and regulations that are closely related to international students’ daily lives in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Exit and Entry, and the Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Exit and Entry. Taking the international students’ study in China as the timeline, he elaborates on the matters needing attention in aspects of entry, stay and exit in simple terms. Dr. Gao Limin illustrates the novel coronavirus that has made a profound impact on our lives and learning from a perspective of the past and present of infectious diseases and the types of common infectious diseases. Dr. Gao Limin also talks about the novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control knowledge and China's epidemic prevention and control policies from the virus’s latest development.

Subsequently, the management methods of international students’ scholarships in Nanyang Normal University are interpreted and explained, and the high-quality development of the cultivation of international students in Nanyang Normal University is briefly introduced.
