International Teachers and Students Carried Out a Series of Research Activities Entitled “Walking in Central China, Experiencing Henan”

In order to learn and implement the important spirit of President Xi Jinping’s letter to PKU international students on June 21, from July 17 to 19, our international teachers and students held the first of the series of research activities “Walking in Central China, Experiencing Henan”. The theme of this research activity is to see the great history and glorious tradition of the Communist Party of China, experience the 5,000-year excellent culture of the Chinese nation, this activity includes the revolutionary red base, beautiful countryside, Chinese long history and traditional culture base.

On July 17, the international teachers and students research group travelled to Lankao, Kaifeng, visited Lankao county museum, JiaoTong Tree and Jiao Yuuu memorial. They studied the spirit showed by Jiao Yulu, “close to the people, hard work, scientific truth, rise to the difficulties, selfless dedication”.

On July 18, the research group visited Anyang and visited the Museum of Chinese Characters, the first national museum with Chinese characters as its main collection. They learned about the discovery, excavation and research process of oracle bones and the origin, development and evolution of Chinese characters. Then they visited the ruins of Yin, the first capital site in Chinese history that can be examined by literature and confirmed by archaeology and oracle bones, and appreciated the magnificent palaces, temples and the rich cultural relics represented by oracle bones and bronzes. International teachers and students said that China has a long and splendid history, and they are very interested in learning more about it.

On July 19, the research group went to Tangyin. In Zhouyi culture birthplace-Youli city, they realize the Zhouyi culture broad and profound cultural connotation. In outstanding patriotism education base-Yue Fei temple, they learned the stories of Yue Fei. The research group was impressed by his national spirit of loyalty and patriotism, indomitability and resistance to foreign aggression.

At the end of the activity, all the international teachers and students said that the trip was worthwhile and they had benefited a lot. They also expressed their strong desire to have more activities.

The “Walking in Central China, Experiencing Henan” series of research activities aims to enable international teachers and students to have a deeper understanding of real development and achievements of China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and encourage them to share what they have seen and heard with the people of their own countries, so as to play a positive role in promoting people-to-people exchanges between the people of different countries.
