Prof. Dr. ScottA. Wellswas born in 1957. He graduated from Tennessee Polytechnic in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, got Master's degree in Civil Engineering at Tennessee Technological University, BS in Civil Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980 and 1982, respectively, and Ph.D. from Cornell University in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1990. Since 1987 he has been at Portland State University and is currently Chair and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is a member of the American Society for Filtration and Separation, Director, Chairman of the Board of Education, Water Environment Federation, and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In addition, he is also a member of multiple departments and organizations (e.g. Member of Tualatin Basin Water Quality Technical Advisory Committee, Department of Environmental Quality) related to the aquatic ecological water environment. As well as he is a reviewer more than 20journals (e.g.Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resources Research Journal of Hydroinformatics). His research areas are in modeling of environmental fluid mechanics: surface water quality and hydrodynamics and solid-liquid separation processes. He has written over 100 technical publications and is a co-developer of the latest version of the CE-QUAL-W2 water quality and hydrodynamic model.
