南阳特色植物及道地药材种质资源创新，区域性作物品种筛选与高产栽培，生态农业与面源污染控制，作物高产高效生理生态和小麦高产优质栽培技术方面的研究、畜禽重要经济性状形成的分子遗传机制和种质资源保护利用的研究、果树栽培生理及采后贮藏加工研究、昆虫系统学与生物多样性方向研究等。
特色：
围绕软籽石榴、猕猴桃、食用菌、月季、艾草、道地药材等南阳特色植物开展种质筛选、新品种选育、高产栽培技术研究；依据南阳南北气候过渡带地域优势，开展适合南阳地区种植的丰产优质多抗作物品种筛选及高效栽培技术研究。

Leveraging the geographical advantage of Nanyang as a transitional climate zone between the north and south, research is carried out on the screening of high-yielding, high-quality, and multi-resistant crop varieties suitable for cultivation in Nanyang and the development of efficient cultivation techniques.
