生命科学学院始建于1984年，学院现有一个生物与医药类专业硕士点和生物科学（国家一流专业）、生物工程（省一流专业）两个本科专业，其中硕士点2012年开始招生，为南阳师范学院首个硕士点。现有教职员工89人，其中专任教师64人，教授13人，副教授21人，博士62人（国家百千万人才1人，国务院政府特殊津贴专家2人，国家级就业创业特聘专家1人，省特聘教授1人、省学术技术带头人4名，省“杰青”1人，省“优青”2人，省高校科技创新人才4人，3个省级科技创新团队，硕士生导师34人）。有 “生态安全与水资源保护”河南省骨干特色学科群， 9个省级科研平台，涉及月季、艾草、食用菌、畜禽保健、生物质、害虫防治等多个方向，1个河南省重点现代产业学院，1个河南省省级高素质农民培训基地，实验设施完备，总价值8000余万元。
学院承担国家级项目51项，省部级、校企合作项目120项，总经费5500余万元。发表SCI/EI论文400余篇，授权国家发明专利71项，成果转化15项，经济效益7000万元，省部级科研奖励9项。获省部级教学成果奖7项，主持省部级教学改革项目6项，省级以上教学标兵8人。

About us:
College of Life Sciences, Nanyang Normal University was founded in 1984, presently has two professional master's programs: the Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Engineering professional master's program and the Agricultural professional master's program. Among these, the Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Engineering professional master's program was the first to be approved at our university and began admitting students in 2012. The college currently has two undergraduate majors: one in Biological Science and one in Bioengineering. The undergraduate students are required to complete 4 years of study and research training to obtain their BS degree, and another 3 years of study and research training to obtain their Master degree.
Teaching 1: undergraduate programs
Bachelor in Biological Science: This program aims to help students master basic knowledge in biology theory and experimental skills, make them have strong learning ability, innovative thinking ability and practical ability and prepare them to become teachers or researchers in high school and middle school.
Duration: four-years program
Core courses: Botany, Zoology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Genetics, Plant physiology, Biochemistry, Cell biology, Molecular biology, Ecology, Pedagogy, Psychology and modern education technology, Biological teaching theory.
Bachelor in Biological Engineering: This program aims to help students master basic knowledge in biotechnology, bio-engineering and experimental skills and prepare them to become senior applicable personnel in fermentation, food, medical, biochemical products, commodity inspection, health, plant protection and other related industries.
Core courses: General biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular biology, Principles of chemical engineering, Biological engineering equipment, Factory design, Downstream of biological engineering technology, Engineering drawing, Gene engineering, Cell engineering, Fermentation engineering, Enzyme engineering.

Duration: Three-years program
Master in Biology and Medicines：This program aims to serving the development of regional bio-industry, cultivate high-level application-oriented talents with solid foundation, comprehensive quality, strong engineering practice ability, innovative consciousness, international vision and good professional ethics. Focus on the requirements of school development and high-quality development of regional economy, society and ecology, this program has two talent training directions: 1) biotechnology and engineering, including water quality safety and ecological protection, germplasm innovation and efficient cultivation technology of characteristic plants, vaccine and antibody engineering, cellular and molecular genetic engineering; 2) fermentation engineering, including microbial resource mining, molecular transformation and comprehensive utilization, fermentation process optimization and product application.

Master in Agriculture: This program aims to cultivating application-oriented high-level talents with good professionalism and strong innovation and entrepreneurship ability for enterprises and institutions and management departments in various fields of agriculture, such as technology research, application, development and promotion, new rural development, agricultural education, etc. Focus on high-quality development of the major national strategic project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the transformation and upgrading of characteristic industries and modern agriculture in Nanyang, this program has three talent training directions: 1) crops and seeds, including innovation of germplasm resources of characteristic plants and authentic medicinal materials in Nanyang, screening and high-yield cultivation of regional wheat varieties; 2) resource utilization, including soil contamination remediation, and high-yield cultivation and deep processing of edible fungi; 3) plant protection, including agricultural microorganisms and pest control.
Core courses: advanced trial design & biostatistics, essay writing & academic norms, professional English, technology and application of safe production of agricultural products, information technology in agriculture, rural development planning, agricultural technology and policy, advanced plant breeding theory and technology, plant production theory and technology, advances in resource utilization and plant protection technologies, efficient utilization and management of agrochemical products, integrated pest management of plants.
Faulty：
The college has 77 faculty and staff members, including 10 professors and 21 associate professors, 55 teachers had Ph.D. degree, more than 10 members had the National or Provincial talent title. We also have three science and technology innovation teams of Henan province, four people got the science and technology innovation talents of Henan province, 34 teachers are master supervisors (https://www2.nynu.edu.cn/yuanxi/shwx/yjsjy/dsfc.htm).
Research：
The college owns one Characteristic Backbone Discipline Cluster of Ecological security and water resources protection, 9 Provincial Key Laboratory and Engineering and Technology Research Centres of Chinese rose, Asian mugwort, Edible mushroom, Livestock and Poultry health, Biomass green transformation, and Agricultural pest control. We also have a modern industry college of Henan Province, a high-quality farmers training center of Henan Province, the total value of experiment instruments is more than 80 million RMB.
The college receives 51 research funds from National Natural Science Foundation, and 120 research funds from international cooperative research programs, as well as programs from local governments and enterprises. The total research budget of the college is around 55 million RMB, the publications in SCI are above 400, the provincial and ministerial scientific research awards are 9, the national invention patents are 71, from which 15 items have been transformed with economic benefits of 70 million RMB. Seven achievements get the provincial and ministerial teaching achievement awards, six items get the provincial and ministerial teaching reform projects, and eight people get the awards of teaching champions of Henan province.
