

On the afternoon of September 17, an online cooperation exchange meeting between our university and the National University of Malaysia was held in the Smart Classroom 238 of the Central Campus Science and Technology Building. Vice President Yao Lunguang attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The Malaysian participants included Zeti Azura Mohamed Hussein, Vice Dean of the Undergraduate School of the Faculty of Science and Technology, and Abdul Munir Abd, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, who participated online. Representatives from NYNU’s Office of Educational Administration, International Office, Alumni Affairs Office, School of Life Science, and School of Chemistry and Pharmacy Engineering attended the meeting. The session was chaired by Zhang Yaoyi, Director of the International Office.
Vice President Yao Lunguang introduced the basic profile of Nanyang Normal University. He proposed that both institutions leverage resource sharing and complementary strengths to jointly build international scientific research platforms, conduct cooperative training, and establish international joint laboratories. He expressed hope for strengthening cooperation in joint education programs at undergraduate and master’s levels, particularly in expanding the scale and depth of joint doctoral training, to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
Zeti Azura Mohamed Hussein provided an overview of the National University of Malaysia and its Faculty of Science and Technology. Abdul Munir Abd shared the university’s experience in joint graduate training in the fields of biology and chemistry, as well as interdisciplinary research.
During the meeting, representatives from the School of Life Science and the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy Engineering introduced their respective disciplinary construction and research achievements. They proposed suggestions for future collaboration and engaged in in-depth discussions with the Malaysian side on the joint cultivation of high-level talents.
According to available information, the National University of Malaysia ranks 126th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings and has been rated as a “5-Star University” by QS. Researchers from the School of Life Science at our university have already carried out frontier scientific research cooperation in the field of biological sciences with the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the National University of Malaysia. The two institutions have jointly organized academic seminars and signed a cooperative agreement on joint doctoral training.
