On April 28, Prof. Zhang Chun from Lanzhou Jiaotong University, at the invitation of the School of Water Resources and Modern Agriculture, gave an academic lecture titled “Controllable Preparation of Transition Metal-Based Nanocomposites and Their Applications in Water Treatment” in the conference room of the School of Water Resources on the east campus of our university. The lecture was presided over by Li Yuying, Dean of the School of Water Resources and Modern Agriculture. The school leaders, backbone teachers of relevant majors, student representatives (postgraduate and undergraduate) participated in the lecture.
Prof. Zhang Chun focused on the difficult problems of treating refractory organic substances and heavy metals in water bodies and systematically explained the coping strategies of constructing an efficient and stable water treatment technology system with the help of transition metal-based nanocomposites. In terms of material design, the heterostructure construction, crystal plane regulation and defect engineering were adopted to improve the separation efficiency of photo-generated carriers, and metal doping and porous structure were combined to enhance the adsorption capacity and cyclic stability. In terms of preparation technology, the hydrothermal-reduction method and MOF-guided synthesis were used to achieve the controllable preparation of special structures. In terms of application research, the performance of the materials in photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics, reduction of heavy metals and magnetic recovery was verified, providing basic support for the development of an integrated technology of “degradation-resource utilization”.
This lecture provided a platform for teachers and students of relevant majors such as environment, water quality and chemistry in our university to communicate face-to-face with an academic master. The cutting-edge scientific research concepts and valuable practical experience shared by Prof. Zhang not only broadened the academic horizons of teachers and students, but also inspired the collision of innovative thinking, injecting vitality into the scientific research innovation of the university and providing useful references for cultivating more excellent talents in the field of water environment treatment.
